Scope
This course will provide a basic introduction to the loading- and design subjects in relation to the most common accidental load scenarios for offshore structures. The most common load conditions according to the Norsok and DNV GL standards are ship impact, fires, explosions and dropped objects.
Information will be given about the applicable chapters for accidental loads in the most common standards for design of steel structures on the North Sea sector. The load standard NORSOK N-003 will soon be issued in a new revision, and is planned among others to include new and increased design criteria for ship impact loads against platforms, see figure.
Speakers: Professor Jørgen Amdahl, NTNU and Sivilingeniør Toon De Jonge, Aker Solutions.
